Britton's Haiku Journey

January 8th 2008 05:30
There are several English translations of Basho's Oku no Hosomichi.

Whats special about this one?

A HAIKU JOURNEY
Basho's Narrow Road to a Far Province

Translated by Dorothy Britton Publisher Kodansha 1974

This paperback version contains the Japanese Text as well as a translation so you can check out the original text! Definitely useful. Its a paperback but well bound with illustrations and a rather good map of his travel route.

Recommended for students of poetry and japanese! Or just for the pleasure of reading!
