Clear Waters Rising
A Mountain Walk
Across Europe
Across Europe
Nicholas Crane 1996
Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun ... or decide to walk across Europe ... and only walk ... following the major mountain ranges.
Nicholas walked from Finisterre at the end of the Cantabrian Sierras in northern Spain, along the Pyrenees, then up into France, into the Cebevennes and across to the Alps and then followed the vast curve of the Carpathians down to the Balkans finishing his trek at Istanbul.
He walked through mid winter snow storms and summer heat next to glaciers and through remote forest meadows following marked paths and old stock routes meeting a a wide variety of people both common and strange.
My library classified this book as Travel and Geography 921.
Enjoy!
