Discarded Classics

A question for my subscribers andother regulars?

Does this situation sadden you?

Wandering through a second hand and used book shop and passing the Used Texts shelves and seeing major classics on them.

For some reason our local store at Hornsby has a large number of copies of Sophocles Theban plays on its shelves. These are Classics. You would think people would want to keep their copies for ever?

What makes me sad is wondering why people didnt appreciate and enjoy the plays enough to want to keep the book and reread it?

What's wrong with people who cant appreciate the Iliad or Odyssey or the Attic dramatists?

Ideas anyone?

Does the sight of discarded classics sadden you?
