Of Farming & Classics

C.s. Lewis is NOT the only famous Anglo-Irish scholar! Heard of David Grene?

Of Farming and Classics is a memoir ( 2007 Uni Chicago Press) by David Grene of his experiences as a stduent in Ireland, at Trinity, and as a scholar at Cambridge and Chicago, but it is also about his other passion, farming, and how he felt the two were linked, and how his activities a s afarmer in Ireland and the Middle West complmented his work as a scholar and teacher.

This is a slender but rich volume of precise prose and insights into a scholar's life.

Enjoy!
