The life of Saint Serfaim of Sarov.
This book also has a 1975 paperbook edition.
It combines written official accounts with oral traditons and legends told by storytellers about the Life of Serafim of Sarov a famous Russian saint.

The account of Serafim's struggles is given a special poignancy by the personal knowledge of the region and people that the authoress learnt while imprisoned in a gulag in the same area of Russia.
