Heaney's Beowulf Illustrated

May 17th 2008 11:02

BEOWULF
Translated by Seamus Heaney
An Illustrated Edition

This re-issue of Heaney translation first published in 2000 is kinda coffeetable but still lovely.

It's the text translated in modern English with notes essays further reading and a wide variety of lovely photos of landscapes and weapons and artifacts associated with the poem including a very good photo of the possible site of Heorot which manages to be a great lanscape photo and an accurate image showing the layout of the ruins.

Not ready to tackle the Old English original?

Why not read this first to give you a solid taste of why BEOWULF is special?
