Japanese Waka

August 22nd 2007 06:30
JAPANESE WAKA

and where you can find them online.

Waka ot Tanka is a form of Japanese poetry still used today. It is the precursor or renga and haiku and its structure is 5 lines of syllalbes, 5 7 5 7 7.

There are many translations available now online and hardcopy of waka however some of them dont give full notes or dont give the romaji or have a translation and the romaji.

Only one site I know of has a translation notes the romaji and the original kana and kanji!

2001 Waka Project!

Enjoy! It's a great site for poetry lovers who want to learn more about Waka!
