LI Ho's

April 19th 2007 16:19
Goddess, Ghosts, and Demons

The Collected Poems of LI He (also spelt HO)
(790 - 816 A.D. )

Translated with an Introduction by J. D. Frodsham.

Li Ho was a TANG dynasty poet whose poems are wild mystic and magical.

I suspect if he was alive today he'd be a Goth for sure! His poems are full of exotic sensual imagery, and references to folk lore and history, romance, Taoist alchemy,.

Not I'm not being a Westerner stereotyping Eastern culture as "EXOTIC" for many other and later Chinese scholars viewed LI HO as being "demon- talented" guei-cai and wierd.

You should be able to find Frodshams' translation in a university library but might have to order it in if you dont have access to one of the larger book stores?

If you love Chinese verse or just want to read something wierd and wonderful hunt for this book!
