Lord Halifax's Ghost Book
October 4th 2007 04:11
Ever wonder where some of those "true" ghost stories come from?
The ones you see again and again in anthologies.
Well this is one of the major sources!
I have a copy I found second hand... I think it was at one of the UNSW book sales!?
It's the 1936 edition and includes such stories as The Secret of Glamis and The Death of Lord Tyrone and The Bordeaux Diligence.
I have seen several of these stories rewritten as fiction or published in other books without the original sources being given.
If you're interested in the paranormal or ghost stories and folklore keep an eye out for this book! It's a Classic!
The stories were collected by Lord Halifax from various friends relatives and houseguests and written down into a book which his son had published after his death cos of the demands by various people who had heard of the stories and wanted them preserved!
Some of them are first hand accounts and others second or third hand handed down by relatives with notes as to the reliability of the source.
Look for this one!
