GRAND CANAL GREAT RIVER
The Travel Dairy of a Twelfth Century Chinese Poet
Translated with a Commentary by Philip Watson 2007
Lu You ( 1125 - 1210) also known as Lu Yu was a scholar official of the Southern Sung dynasty who in hte year 1170 journeyed from his home town Shanyin near the coastal area now being swallowed up by Shanghai's constant expansion north along the Grand Canal to the Yangtze and then all the way along to that river to Kuifu in Sichuan to take up a new posting.
This book translates his RU SHU JI (Literally Enter Shu Record) with notes commentaries photos and other illustrations. If you're a Sinophile you'll enjoy it and find it a useful reference work also whether your interst is literature history or geography.
I borrowed this from the library. If like me you cant afford to buy a personal copy I would definitely recommend you put this book into your library Suggestions for Purchase box or equivalent! Enjoy!
