Messenger of Truth
Jacqueline Winspear

I'm working my way thru the Maisie Dobbs books with great pleasure.
They're set in the late 1920s. Maisie is investigating whether an artists death was accidental or not. There are several well crafted red herrings and diversionary subplots and I was delightfully surprised to learn who the murder actually was.

Winspear's historical research adds to the series with her depiction of the consequences and social changes caused by WW ONE and she also skilfully and concisely describes any urban or rural scenes.

Enjoy!
