MYOKO-NI

MYOKO-NI

Irmgard Schloegl

passed elsewhere April 23 2007. She left us a legacy of a variety of excellent books on Rinzai Zen Buddhism. The wikipedia page on her lists them all but I want to draw your attention to two books in particular.

There are comparatively few GOOD female writers on Buddhism.

Apart from a couple of American women there's Myoko-ni an Austrain who studied Rinzai Zen in Japan.

Tuttle has paperback editions of two of her best books.

THE ZEN WAY 1995 in Tuttel 1987 first edition

GENTLING THE BULL 1996 from an 1986 first edition.

The first is a general introduction to Zen and the Second a commentary on the 10 OX Herding pictures used for teaching Zen in Japan.

Highly recommended!
