Ovid's Metamorphoses


Ovid a Classical Latin poet is noted for a variety of work ranging from his Amores from to the Ars Amatoria teh Heroides the Remedia Amoris and the Fasti and amongst them is his major work the Metamorphoses well worth reading in Latin or English.

Its an epic in 15 books of lines of verse covering a variety of interlinked and woven Greek and Roman myths that opens with Creation myths and continues thru a diversity of myths and legends to the foundation of rome and the death of Caesar.



This book is a must read and have reference work for the following areas:

Mythology Classcial Poetry Latin Art History.

Yes Art history - this work was a favorite in the renaissance and many famous paintings illustrate scenes from it!
