Painter of Battles

PAINTER OF BATTLES

Arturo Perez-Reverte

I have just finished reading this English translation of El Pintor de Batallas.

This is a strange but enjoyable book with an unsolvable mystery at its heart.

Is the other leading character a ghost a hallucination or Death?

Themes in this book include photography and memory connections and geometry and painting and the profit and loss caused by fame and infamy.

This work is both dialogue and novel.

I found it to be challenging confusing and provoking and I put it down with the sure feeling one time in the future I will read it again and perceive it in a completely different way.

Try it for yourself.
