Waleed Aly is an Australian born and raised Muslim who was written one of the most challenging and thoughtful books about the interactions and misconceptions Islam and the West have about one other! He criticizes the fundamentalists and conservatives along with some "liberals" and "radicals" (Islamic and Christian) and the cliches they use on both sides of the cultural divide and shows us how a lethal combination of arrogance and ignorance is limiting communication and understanding!
Particularly striking is his chapter devoted to explaining the true meaning of jihad and how a concept of "striving" has been distorted and misunderstood by Muslims and Christians into one of "holy war".
Please read this book.You will gain new insights whether you're Muslim or Christian, Arab or Anglo-Celt, American or Australian!
