If you've browsed thru books of 18th century English portraits by Reynolds Romney or Gainsborough you may have noticed portraits of a woman nicknamed Perdita and called Mrs Robinson the actress. As this biography reveals she wasnt just an actress and the mistress of princes politicans and military men but also a fashionista, a woman of letters, a mother, a poetess and editor of poetry, a journalist and essayist, and a child bride married at 15. If you want to find out about the woman behind the portriats I highly recommend this book!
