How To Read Chinese Paintings

This is the catalouge for a exhibition but also an excellent reference book in its own right.
It's a large reference book and no price was given so I would recommend you try to get your library to buy a copy as mine did. Why? This is an excellent reference work with high quality reproductions showing the whole image and including close ups of sections of large work. The work chosen range from the Tang dynasty thru to the Qing and inlcude works from major and minor painters that illustrate various themes and styles in Chinese art, portraiture, horses, birds, plants, landscapes, calligraphy, and buddhist.
Whether you're a beginning student of Chinese art or an expert and teacher you can find something to enjoy in this volume!
Get your school or town or city or university library to acquire it.
Along with a subscription to Arts of Asia magazine if they have the budget!
Thank the Muses my local library did!

Not surprising when you consider the Chinese regard calligraphy as a form of high art.
I'm glad the library bought it! Very Glad!
