The New Book of SALVIAS
SAGES FOR EVERY GARDEN
Betsy Clebsch
This the second edition of a book that first came out in 1993 under the title A Book of Salvias.
So why read a book about SAGE. Its a common garden and culinary herb, right? Yes but it has many interesting cousins and is part of a large family! Whether your interest is herbs or gardening you'll find something of interest in this work.
Dod you know sage species from South West China have yellow flowers?
That Mexico has dozens of sage varieties?
That there's a plant called Jerusalem sage and that there's one kind of sage that only grows in the wild high up on the slopes on a mountian near Konya in Turkey?
If that sort of botanical info intrigues you this book is for you.
Oh it also has lots of photographs and drawings and tips for propagation of plants.
Not for everyone but useful and enjoyable even if you're not a gardener!
Personally I like sage and grow a pot because its almost indestructible unlike tomatoes ... but that's another story and a topic I have already growled about earlier this year.
Buy it for a gardener or herbalist or recommend your library buy it ! Its' good!
