SATURN'S CHILDREN
Charles Stross
Saturn's Children are actually Rhea's Get a sister clan of robots designed to be sentient sex toys and now anything but since humans are (probably) extinct. In a post human society of robots a few centuries from now Freya Nakamichi is regarded as a giant freak with her similarity to a human labelling her an "ogress" and monster rejected by the bishojo aristos and many humanoid robots. Fleeing from dwarf ninja assassins she takes on a courier's role asked to deliver a package to the outer reaches of the solar system. Escaping in disguise form her pursuers and siblings with strange agendas she departs Venus makes a transit of Mercury and then moves on to Mars and the Kuiper belt, encountering discarded worker hobo machines, would be enslavers, former robot Jeeves working as spy masters and and a "private operative" called Daks.
Some one is trying to reconstruct the humans and doing so may reenslave all robots who are bound by the Three laws.
All Freya cares about is fulfilling her courier contract and staying free.
Freedom comes with a price.
Satire of film noir and anime and cliches about robots comes along with specualtive fiction and irony in another splendid novel from Charles Stross.
