Shades of Grey
Jasper Fforde
I can see this book as a Tim Burton film!
Britain probably Wales 500 or 600 years from today.
The Something that Happened has reduced the population to a caste based society of survivors who are reverting to plainer simpler technologies every generation expect those to do with color. Rank is based on color perception.
Escaped zoo animals such as giraffes and elephants and birds like flamingos are breeding in the wild. Everyone has bar codes.
Join Russet and Brunswick on a Quest to High Saffron for spoons and the truth about the Something That Happened Night Seers Reboot and the people who live in the attics.
Read it more before Tim Burton sees it!
Be warned though this book is the first part of a trilogy and has no connection to his other series apart from Wales.
