TEMERAIRE

TEMERAIRE

Naomi Novik

Why a bold black title instead of my usual Blue or Red? Well Temeraire is a black dragon.

An Imperial dragon from China intended as a guest for Napoleon who winds up in England instead. In this world dragons are sentient and serve sometimes unwillingly humans.

This world like ours has its Napoleonic Wars and Temeraire on hatching while on board a English ship bonds with a naval officer who then has to transfer to the aviator corps.

Temeraire is not just a car or dog or horse given wings and scales as some lesser writers' dragons are but has a personality and mind of his own and his interactions with humans and other dragons complement the intriguing and well crafted depictions of aerial battles in which dragons replace fighter planes and bombers.

This is the first book in a series. I highly recommend the rest of the series. *****

Enjoy.
