Time Travelers
Never Die
Jack McDevitt 2009
I think it says something about how popular McDevitt is that I had to wait until March to read this book!? It came out in november last year. You could say its a journey through history and paradox towards hope.
Shel's father discovered a time travel device by accident ( I suspect from a couple of clues planted McDevitt may be planning another book) and then disappeared leaving it to his son who assisted by his friend Classics Professor Dave Dryden goes questing through time and space seeking to rescue him. Sounds too simple? NO?
For McDevitt leads our towsome into some very ironic encounters with the two being accused of being demons in a place where one would never suspect it and encountering friendship and support in the Alexandrian Library of all places from Aristarchus the grammarian who's not disturbed by the possiblity of time travel unlike Dave and Shel who well the title is a clue about paradoxes they have to resolve ... elegant powerful prose! Enjoy!
