T.S. Eliot's USK
August 16th 2007 14:55
USK is a poem by T.S. Eliot , one of the few of his, that I actually like, and so I want to share it with you.
Do not suddenly break the bough, or
Hope to find
The white hart behind the white well.
Glance aside, not for lance, do not spell
Old enchantments, Let them sleep.
Gently dip, but not too deep,
Lift your eyes
Where the roads dip and rise and where the roads rise
Seek only there
Where the grey light meets the green air
the hermit's chapel the pilgrim's prayer.
A strange poem influenced ... inspired ... by the Grail stories and Arthurian lore?
Do not suddenly break the bough, or
Hope to find
The white hart behind the white well.
Glance aside, not for lance, do not spell
Old enchantments, Let them sleep.
Gently dip, but not too deep,
Lift your eyes
Where the roads dip and rise and where the roads rise
Seek only there
Where the grey light meets the green air
the hermit's chapel the pilgrim's prayer.
A strange poem influenced ... inspired ... by the Grail stories and Arthurian lore?
