A VIGIL OF SPIES

CANDACE ROBB

OWEN ARCHER 10

14th York in Northern England. Bishop Thoresby is dying and trying to do so peacefully quietly and with the mininium of fuss bother and politics. Trying to.

First he has to cope with well meaning visitors who all want something, information about the next bishop, reconciliation with lost relatives, escape from dangerous kin, political and spiritual advice, and more.

Owen Archer as Captain of the Guards (read security detail) has to untangle a complication of murders and spies and politics with a little help from Geoffrey Chaucer (yes that CHAUCER) and Madga the Healer who is trying her skills to ease the bishop's final decline.

A satisfying mystery .

If you enjoy Michael Jecks and Paul Doherty's books try this series!
