An Isolated Island Isle Royale in Lake Superior is the site of the Winter Study a long term project to study the interactions of the descendants of two wolves who crossed over to the island one winter and their interactions with the moose and other animals of that island.
From October to May the Island is closed to anyone not on the project or a national Parks employee. This winter an unwelcome visitor who may be a wolf-dog hybrid or a more human monster is on the island seeking prey. Amongst the wintry splendour Ranger Anna Pigeon has to find out who or what is attacking wolves and humans and will risk her own life doing so.
